Translating Cultures

The Translating Cultures theme is a cluster of awards funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, overseen by Theme Fellow Charles Forsdick.

Its aim is to look at the role of translation, understood in its broadest sense, in the transmission, interpretation and sharing of languages, values, beliefs, histories and narratives.

Throughout Solas Festival, representatives from Translating Cultures projects will be discussing their activity and specialisms including British sign language, slavery and migration, and how they have interacted with these subjects using visual and performing arts.
